Women scream during childbirth but the screams of women going through infertility are unheard

Steph and Berenice were delighted to be invited to the launch of Scream for IVF which took place yesterday at Saatchi and Saatchi Wellness in London. The event took place on the rooftop of their offices in Baker Street and luckily the weather was good so we enjoyed catching up with old friends and making new ones, including a lovely chat with Verity PCOS and their work to educate and inform.

We also listened to speeches from Aileen Feeney from Fertility Network and hear from those affected by funding, just as Berenice and her husband were. Berenice has been very vocal on this on her website Walk In Our Shoes and contributed to the fact finding that lead to Steven McCabe MP taking this to Westminster having been through 6 rounds herself.

Aileen said in her speech that; “Women scream during childbirth but the screams of women going through infertility are unheard.” We absolutely agree which is why World Childless Week matters so much and why we’re so supportive of #Scream4IVF. As the speaker from Verity PCOS, Keeley wisely observed last night; “there are two things people never have a choice over, death or infertility.”

You can get involved in 3 ways:

  1. Capture your scream on audio or video
  2. Load to social media and use the hashtag #Scream4IVF
  3. And sign the petition which is found here. With 100,000 signatures, there will be a debate in Parliament.
